Fantastic addition for the E-620, with surprising benefits…,
I recently purchased the E-620 for use with my 14-35mm Zuiko. I knew from the start that this would be a very imbalanced combination, even more-so when I added my FL-50R to the top of the E-620. I would have to hold the camera with my right hand and the lens with my left hand. This is really necessary with any of the smaller Olympus bodies, (E-400, E-410, E-420, E-620), its not a bad thing and is a great way to securely hold your camera and lens.
With this grip, however, I can tell you that the E-620 is much more manageable in terms of balance. When holding the camera in the standard horizontal position, I still need to support the lens with my left hand since the grip does not magically enlarge the grip on the camera, but there is must less of a influence from the lens for the whole kit to take a lens first nosedive while trying to hold it up and steady.
When shooting in the vertical position however, the grip is truly substantial enough, for my hands anyways, to operate the camera one handed with confidence. This grip is extremely will built and seats well with the bottom of the E-620. Despite the heft of the 14-35mm Zuiko, the E-620 with this grip attached handles the weight very well.
Now here is the surprising part, when I was first using my E-620 with the 14-35mm Zuiko without the grip, the lens did in fact hunt for a 1 to 2 second period when shooting in a dimly lit environment. Now, when I tried the combination with the grip attached and loaded with 2 fully charged BLS-1 batteries, I was very surprised to find that the 14-35mm hunted much less and found accurate focus lock faster in the exact same environment I was in before (literally the same room at the same time, 2 days apart) (No flash assist beam was used in either case, as the FL-50R was not attached to the camera in both situations.)
So I must say, if you happen to own the E-620 and the 14-35mm Zuiko, then this grip is a must purchase if you shoot in dimly lit environments.

|More than just a battery grip,
The HLD-5 is a must have accessory for E-620 owners. Not only does it provide double the battery capacity and gives you a better handle on the E-620 but it also seems to improve lens focus performance. My E-620 w/ the 50mm f2.0 used to focus hunt quite a bit without the HLD-5, with the HLD-5 it locks on to subjects much quicker and does so with much less focus hunting. Another nice feature of the HLD-5 is that it allows you to store the E-620′s original battery cover within. I love this accessory and only wished that I had gotten it much sooner.
